Ragamala Paintings are the series of illustrative paintings from medieval India, depicting various Indian musical modes called Ragas. They stand as a classical example of the amalgamation of art, poetry and classical music in medieval India. In these painting each raga is personified by a color, mood, a verse describing a story of a hero and heroine, it also elucidates the season and the time of day and night in which a particular raga is to be sung; and finally most paintings also demarcate the specific Hindu deities attached with the raga, like Bhairava or Bhairavi to Shiva, Sri to Devi etc. This presentation is one of the 12 Ragini Kukubha series dedicated to 12 months of the year.

In this painting there are more than 7 different groups and 35 shades of gemstones used and it takes 9 days to make this beautiful painting. Meticulous attention to details and expertise of technique make this painting extremely realistic and vibrant.
