Usually when we see a seated idol of Lord Ganesha, he is sitting on a throne or on a lotus flower. The most common sitting posture is known as the Lalit-asana. It shows Ganpathi sitting on a throne with his left leg folded and the right leg resting on the ground or vice versa. The leg that rests on the ground shows that Lord Ganesha is concerned about the affairs of the world and is there to help devotee and bestow his blessings on the world. The other leg however denotes his semi meditation pose.
