Story of Ganesha writing the Mahabharata. Once God Shiva was telling the story of Mahabharata to Ganesha and put one condition before Ganesha that he should write only after understanding the lines that he dictated. Ganesha agreed to this condition. Thus, Ganesha put one condition that Shiva should recite the Mahabharata non-stop. After some days of writing of Mahabharata the stylus used by Ganesha broke and as he could not stop writing he broke off one of his tusks and started writing with it. This symbolically explains that any amount of sacrifice is not too much to gain knowledge. Ganesha is considered as the master of intellect and wisdom, symbol of prosperity and good family.
